I don't know if you are interested....

I don't know if you are interested, but there's an Osprey flying above your van!
Parked outside Inverurie's 'home base', Gabi runs in to get some paint n sheeit for Claypots (it's the weekend! we're always at Claypots!) - I'm in the car with Poppy, and look up... there's a massive Osprey, with a fish in its talons! interesting to see the gulls take a wide berth of this amazing bird! I shout over to the two guys in the burger van (and one customer), and they run out of the van and look up... they were amazed too!... I just hope the burger didn't burn...

this isn't a photo of the Osprey, but one from http://www.fs.fed.us

My Poop looked like a...

My Poop looked like a birthday party hat!
I swore never to put up "too embarrassing" quotes from Poppy (If you are reading this at the age of 16+ my sweet, sorry!) - but... this was a doozie. Gabi and I were woken by the dulcit tones of Poppy shouting at us from the toilet... You know, the funny thing was, it did!

If you put that on your thumb....

If you put that on your thumb, it means you'll marry a goblin!
Poppy picked up some plumbing castoff today at Claypots, an old washer or a small bit of pipe, and starts to wear it on her thumbs... beware! beware! "Oh! I don't want to marry a goblin!"... so she swaps it to her pinkie..."oh oh...you'll have to marry a Fairy now!"

I said Hello....

I said Hello, when the bed-monster babies were asleep!
I had a vague recollection at 7.30 this morning that something was touching my feet, as they poked out of the covers... as I become a bit more worldly, I see that Poppy is in the room... so it works out that she was tickling and having a conversation with my feet... (yes, it's a long story, she thinks my toes are bed monster babies... )

Oh! That's the salt...

Oh! That's the salt police coming to get you!
After smashing a salt cellar at Claypots today, on cue, a hollicopter heading to the airport appeared...perfect for some tall story scaremongering. Cruel? perhaps...but fun, watching as Poppy hides behind a tree, moving round slowly as I tell ther they can see her from the left.

Now, no snuffling...

Now, no snuffling on the neck, there's an X on that!
Poppy has a new rule in order to thwart my snuffling attacks... if there's an X on it... NO SNUFFLING! She even does an X with her fingers, whilst frowning, of course.

Everybody say...

Everybody say TEAAAAAAAAA!
Well, after starting the tea themed head gear yesterday, I've been busy making everyone that asked for one a fun head decoration... seems that madness is contagious... or is it just people want to have fun? he he. Tea Cosy was rad, a great weekend, lots of banter, stories, networking, commissions and sales. Superb cultural weekend in Aberdeen, with Freerunning, Skating, Music, Printing, Kite making, crafting a hoy... Well done to Peacock Visual Arts and SMart consultatns for putting on some ace events. More of that please! People of Aberdeen Take not... you don't know how lucky you are.

If you are a tea pot...

If you are a tea pot, I want to be a tea cup!
We're at the fantastic Tea Cosy Carousel today, helping Gabi with her Small Stories stall - all is good! What a vibe last night at the opening! Today, I had the odd idea to make a cardboard tea pot mask hat combo - all for giggles and a bit of fun, you know, put a smile on people's faces... so, after creating it upstairs in the old pier office, I stroll into the Tea Cosy space... people agog at what a tool I look, Poppy spreads a massive smile across her face... seems that once Poppy has one, everyone thinks they are cool! - I'll be making more tomorrow then...

Yoo hoo, daddy....

Yoo hoo, daddy, hellllooooo?
After an evening of Poppy ignoring me (asking nicely to "put you shoes on please" (x5)) ... I state, "OK Pops, If you're ignoring me, I'll ignore you!" So, picture Poppy in the back seat of the car, basket of books by her side, and one by one... they come flying in my direction, bouncing off my shoulder with a "Daddy?... helllooooo?!" (I had a secret chuckle to myself... but confiscated the books and re-stated my reason in ignoring her... to which I got a "Daddy, I am sorry... I love you"... sook).

It's a satisfying sound...

It's a satisfying sound, hearing a fly pop
We headed to Claypots today, for a mega paintathon... seems that the hot now cold weather has brought all the fat bluebottles out... well, in an empty house with holes in the bathroom dorma, they must flood in, as there were HUNDREDS of them, all slowly buzzing / flying / walking all over the windows... we were SCOOPING them out to freedom... but this was taking too long (!)... so a more brutal method was employed... which worked. We now have several piles of flat fat flies... nasty.

I saw Elvis...

I saw Elvis in a cloud!
Driving home from Aberdeen (stuck in the traffic thanks to some clever twit closing the entire northbound traffic on Ellon Road - so everyone goes to the Huddigan.... grumble grumble) I was listening to some nice Rhythm and Sound remixes, when all of a sudden, Elvis appeared in a cloud... swift and mercurial, I managed to snag a photo in the stationary trafic... tell me you see him too... uh hu? thanq verrry much, ladies n gentlemen.

Never mind the giant fluffy baby I saw...

I think my T-shirt...

I think my T-shirt has shrunk in the wash!
I picked up Gabi's new batch of Small Stories "wear" from LloydZoid today, and they are looking ace, all ready for the Tea Cosy Carousel this weekend... I just wish they were a little bigger... babies get all the cool things.

Wouldn't it be great to...

Wouldn't it be great to whip necks?
Poppy grabbed the sofa pugilist baton today at Granny & Granddad's place today...that's the sausage cushion to you and me, and ended up in a whiling dervish stylee attack on Ailsa, Grandad, Sara and me... spinning and splatting as she went, with a manic grin on her face... announcing gleefully this cracker... I do fear for my life, when I sleep....

PS...Mummy does not like this image...

Daddy you stay there...

Daddy you stay there, and come here
another bossy boots day from the quintisentially quantum poppy ...

Mummy, why didn't the man...

Mummy, why didn't the man want a photo of me?
Gabi and I were having our photo taken for the Trend Magazine, where Elly Rothnie has kindly written an article promoting NEOS! (thanks so much Elly!)... So! The photographer turned up to take photos of Gabi and I (as we are the coordinator / designer for NEOS) - and he asked "perhaps we can have the photos without the child?".... "without the child".... I don't think this man likes kids somehow.... Poppy slouched of crying and flopped onto the floor!...whilst we sat and posed. (never pander to mood swings)...but, we did feel like crap parents for a minute or two!

Heather, you don't have a badge...

Heather, you don't have a badge, so you don't have a name
Poppy was shmoosing with some creative people at the Creative Cultures Scotland networking night tonight, and what a fine time we all had, Nina Eggens, Elly Rothnie and Aurelie Bureau gave presentations about Gane, the Future of PVA and CCS "fund finding" services... anyway, the name badges were a bit of a problem, slidey paper + slidey holders... much hilarity and "ach bollox"... Poppy seemed to harrang my boss Heather about her badge...but amazingly, Poppy found it on the floor for her... now, did she read the name? or was it just chance?

Wednesday, 14 July 2010

Come on you...

Come on you muppet bang! you flower sausage.... you big badge maker!
Poppy going on a road rage blunderbuss of her own today, when a "silly twit" pulled out on a roundabout in front of us (in our "fun to drive" left hand drive car)... we are doing well in not swearing, eh... we egged her on... is that bad?

Tuesday, 13 July 2010

When we get old...

When we get old we all dance
Yes, Poppy still has her morbid fascination of people dying... she's into saying "when we get old, we die" and Gabi doesn't like it! so... she keeps "mishearing" poppy and states this... cue the dictionary definition of feedback. Still, the view was nice to Dundee today...visiting the DCA for a meeting about Arts orientated small loans / credit systems... it's more exciting than it sounds... I promise...

Macaroni Cheese and...

Macaroni Cheese and Dark Chocolate
Tonight was the MUSA re-launch by BrewDog... Good to see that the Chefs are still the same, as the "old" musa food was delicious, and it still is, but, I think they've been given a mission to "test" by the BrewDog loons... tonight, we had macaroni and chocolate & blue cheese ice cream. I think the mission was to make memorable food that people discuss... bingo, it worked!

As a bonus, when leaving, Gabi and I bumped into Kenny AlaFu! He's such a cool guy, always has time to talk to people..and the good news is, he's setting up a studio in Aberdeen! fantastic!

You have to take off your trousers...

You have to take off your trousers to make smelly music!
Just before bath time... I'll say no more.

I love my...

I love my sushi! yummy yummy yummy!
As a treat (from the car breakdown / hassles yesterday), we decided to splash out a bit and go to YO Sushi in Aberdeen (with Gabi's Council Employee card, you're supposedly entitled to a 30% discount (to match budget reductions?)). Anyway, Poppy gleefully watches the delightful food trundle round on the conveyor belts... "AWW, no edamame beans!". A few plates later, we're £34 quid lighter, oh, and the council discount only works during the week... bah.

I keep reaching for the...

I keep reaching for the door!
Gah! Our car's suspension broke today (potholes? nawww... ) anyway... we've been given a very helpful "courtesy car" ... but, it's a left hand drive Polo Estate! Gabi and I have never driven a left hand drive car... and boy oh boy, does it take some concentration! we're still not really able to change gear going around a roundabout!... holiday weekend too... sheeit. Roll on Tuesday.

Daddy, the council told me to punish you by bothering you with old moths!

we've had a thousand...

we've had a thousand in already, and it's only 12'o'clock!
Working for whitespace today, at the Aberdeen Art Gallery's 125th birthday celebrations... I was making "silhouettes" with the zillions of kids pouring through the door... organised Chaos, just the way I like it. Excellent fun, we made butterflies, rabbits, owls, bats, cats, dogs, men with tilting hats, worms, dolphins, and a myriad of tiny...tiny drawings of blobby things... I also made a plethora of paper moustaches for boys and girls... he he, watching a 3 year old weight lifter / circus strong man was fantastic, his face changed as he got into character. At the end of the day, there were over 2.5k people through the door. Well done AAG, and here's to the next 125 years!

Tuesday, 6 July 2010

that's a fine...

That's a fine cup of joe right there!
Project slogan opened its doors today as a "pay what you like" cafe - where the coffee is delicious, served by the delightful Sarah J Stanley. I'm sure she'll be like a coffee octopus by the end of the month, a dab hand at serving beverages... or like a tea urn Ganesh... ach, forgeddit, go visit Project Slogan, and have some banter about art and a fly cup, whilst yer at it. pay well, Sarah deserves it.

Urban...

Urban Lobotomy
Reading some of the PnJ comments today, someone linked to a story about a TIF funded scheme in LA to destroy a historical aspect of the city - to build a bigger, more expensive "tidy" version... this phrase comes from this sentence within the story : "This is not a project for the bureaucrats but for the artists to lead the way. Bunker Hill was a CRA project and world planners and architects called it urban lobotomy."

Dear oh dear. Seems business and sterilisation wins again.

I think that clouds would taste like...

I think that clouds would taste like sweeties!
Poppy was lying on her back, looking at the clouds, and she'd said "I'd love to jump into the sky and eat the clouds"..."and what would they taste like Poppy?"... of course! and only days after she'd seen candy floss for the first time.... curse you sugar!

Saturday, 3 July 2010

Goodnight old...

Goodnight old ducky!
A rather worryingly glib phrase popped out by Poppy to me as I put her to bed tonight... I was bouncing on the trampoline with her not 1/2 an hour before this... pah.

Can I have an...

Can I have an Agata Bagata Please?
We went to the Peacock opening tonight, showcasing Agata Dymus-Kazmierczak's printmaking, and Reiko Goto and Tim Collins's interesting exhibition about trees amking music... Agata's prints are for sale, but we ended up buying some interactive art... Agata's prints on a bag! Lovely it is too!

We zooted off to see Elaine at Junction Art - as she's got a charity gig on at the moment, for Anchor (A Cancer charity), so get down to Peacock and Junction Art

My favourite bit in the stir fry is the asparagus, the noodles, the carrots, the prawns and the cat
"steady Pops! It's not that authentic!"... Poppy was listing all her favourite things in tonight's dinner, as the cat walked past her... interesting to see how little minds are easily distracted!
